A new interpretation, at least for me, of a fairly famous image.  Ansel Adams shot virtually the same image, as have countless other photographers.  I like the small twist the Lensbaby adds to the scene.

Of all the animals we saw in the wild in Yellowstone, unfortunately, wolves were not among them.  This bad boy was in the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center located more or less right across the street from our hotel in West Yellowstone.

One of the very first images I took during our trip to Yellowstone, and one of the strongest.  My wife and I went exploring in the Upper Geyser Basin around Old Faithful as we waited for it to erupt.  This was one of our first stops.

I’d asked at the visitor center for a good hike and was recommended the Buckhorn/Golden Wall trails, but to take the Castle Bridge portion.  Well, it was a longer hike than I’d planned, and overall, not super photogenic — especially since I managed to miss the Castle Bridge spur.  This probably wasn’t the smartest image to make — I was pretty much constantly in danger of falling back down to the trail because of the steep ground and the loose scree, but in the end, I think it was worth the effort.

Mugwumps, in Hatch, Utah, is a fun little red, white and blue painted building that you can’t help but notice as you drive past.  Go inside and it’s chock full of this, that, and the other.  When the proprietor realized I was taking pictures of her ceilings as well, she said, “Oh!  I need to start putting things on the ceiling too!”  This particular room is organized not by item, but by color.  Green glass and what not on one shelf.  Blues on another.  Reds on a third. I was fascinated.

Call it mini-Bryce Canyon if you will, Cedar Breaks is every bit as beautiful, but a lot less crowded.  It can also open quite late in the year due to massive amounts of snowfall.  This year, it either opened the weekend we were there, or the week before — I forget which.  The actual viewpoint is on top of the cracked stone “tower,” but this made a much more interesting image.

Take one highly photographed tree, add one photographer playing with a new lens, shake together with a new panorama head, let percolate, and this might just be what you get.

East side of Zion National Park with a subject that I know I’ve photographed quite a bit, as have others.  I’ve heard it called the most photographed tree in the park.  It probably is, but who knows.  Something cool about it regardless.  It’s the same one in this image.

I was actually trying to figure out how to reach a location where I’d shot a single-row pano about 10 years ago, and got a little “lost” on the trail.  I ended up under this tree, shrugged, and decided to try a shot.  This turned out far better than I ever could have expected.

Learning to use the Lensbaby I got for Christmas.  This was just kind of an off the cuff shot of my wife, and I’ve decided I really like it.  This is the way I want to remember the hike (and not the really bad fall she took later that day).  Therefore, I like it all the more for the way it “feels” like a memory.

A Spherical Pano taken in the Checkerboard Mesa area of Zion National Park.  One of the first real tests of the new fisheye lens in conjunction with the Nodal Ninja Panorama head I purchased.  I think this turned out spectacularly.

The size of this shot on the site really limits its impact.  When you see it the way it’s meant to be seen — LARGE — it’s a much more impressive image.
